The Journey of Divine Beings: From the Inner Sanctum to the Outer World Barbara Framm

Vishnu and Barbara bring to life the stories of the gods and goddesses from the ancient sacred scriptures of India, through the medium of the Odissi dance of North-eastern India. The dancers seek the blessings of Lord Jagannath (patron deity of Odissi dance) for an auspicious beginning, and invite the spirit of the particular deities to manifest through them in the dances. After entering the world of gods and goddesses and experiencing oneness with the divine, the dancers elevate themselves to a state of fulfillment, ecstasy, and bliss, in the final item, Moksha. Traditional items from the Odissi repetoire will be presented, as well as an original choreography.
